She is very experienced in web content development and has managed a number of Web sites. Kathy received the ProSoft Certified Internet Webmaster certificate in 2001. She received the Search Engine Professional certificate in 2009 from the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization.

Teaching and Speaking Experience:

Kathy has presented many seminars and classes. She will offer seminars on energy-wise landscape design at Middlesex Community College, Middletown, CT, in spring and summer, 2011. She was an adjunct instructor at Fairfield University for five years.

Recent Business & Educational Experience

Kathy is a recent graduate of the Conway School of Landscape Design in Conway, MA, which she attended in order to complete her transition from the business world to the field of sustainable land use planning and design. Please view the information below:

Residential design for a five-acre property in Williamsburg, MA:

Landscape challenges included an unsatisfactory driveway, a very steep hillside overgrown with brambles, and inconvenient access to a maple sugaring area at the bottom of the hill. Project include surveying, creation of a topographic map, driveway design, hillside switchback design, and a planting plan. See endorsements.See landscape illustrations.

Open space preservation and management plan for the Southbury Land Trust, Southbury, CT:

Planning challenges included creation of a long-term plan for ongoing agriculture, forested open space, hiking trails, wildlife habitat, watershed protection, and management of invasive weed species. See endorsements. See samples from the land management plan.

Streetscape for the town of West Rutland, Vermont:

Design challenges included facade improvement, infrastructure for cars, bicycles, pedestrians, lighting, and stormwater management. Increased regional awareness of the town was also an objective. See endorsements. See samples from the streetscape plan.

Business Experience

Kathy joined Paul M. Connolly, Ph.D. (husband and business partner) at Performance Programs in 1991, a firm dedicated to helping organizations use surveys, tests, and assessments to improve their human resource operations. As co-owner, she carried out many marketing and management activities, but most enjoyed e-content development and e-commerce. The Performance Programs web sites now account for about about 50% of the company's business. Prior to her 20 years with Performance Programs, Kathy held a variety of marketing positions with Dun & Bradstreet, CompuServe, and GTE (now Verizon) from 1975 to 1990.

Volunteer: Kathy is the founder and past chairperson of the Old Saybrook Bikeways Committee. She recently organized the Shoreline Bicycle and Pedestrian Discussion Group, a committee of bicycle and pedestrian advocates from eight towns along the Connecticut Shoreline and Connecticut River valley. She is a member of Bike-Walk Connecticut.

Kathy has been an active participant on the Old Saybrook Tree Committee for 12 years. She is an active member of the Ecological Landscaping Association, Northeast Organic Farming Association, Connecticut Forest and Park Association, and Old Saybrook Land Trust.
